(read-only access for the curious — i find it is not necessary to specify username or password for the connection; these are already specified in the url ‐ if your PostgreSQL client has trouble verifying the certficate, it is proabably looking for a trusted root certificate in "~/.postgresql/root.crt ‐ which is usually located somewhere else on your system such as /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/openssl/ for fedora — even on Microsoft Windows you will have a trusted root certificate bundle somewhere — just copy it over, or better yet, make a link or shortcut to that file so that your PostgreSQL client can find it)
